BACKGROUND

Thetl;dr

I grew up on a hydrangea farm. Summers were long, the rows were endless, and I got tired of pulling weeds pretty fast. Around the same time I fell into computers—mostly by hacking the games I couldn't stop playing: Stick Arena Ballistic, Call of Duty: World at War on my Wii, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on my Xbox 360. I've always had a knack for tinkering, breaking things apart, and figuring out how to make them work better.

That curiosity led me to study Web Design & New Media at the Academy of Art University. From there I landed at Airbnb on the Design Tools team, working alongside extremely skilled design technologists who inspired me deeply—not just to design, but to build. Watching them operate at the intersection of design and engineering lit a fire in me to teach myself software development, and I've been doing exactly that ever since. Today I work across design systems, product craft, and the tools that help teams ship great work, with a big passion for building things that make designers' lives easier.

On the personal side, I'm a first-generation Mexican American who speaks fluent Spanish and English. When I'm not building, you'll find me hiking with my wife, training jiu-jitsu, fishing, bow hunting, or cleaning my truck. 😉
